OIL AND BUTTER SUBSTITUTES
In preparing our cakes, we recommend using Earth Balance Soy Free Butter Substitute*, which you can quickly melt in the microwave and use as you would an oil. If you'd prefer to use oils, we have found a traditional vegetable oil to give the best rise in our bake mixes.

Consistency Tip: Mixing a butter substitute spread or traditional butter with Organic Palm Oil Shortening will give you the fluffiest frosting, while using only shortening will yield a stiffer frosting. Feel free to add a few drops of water to your frosting mix as you whip it to get the consistency you like.
